يقف قصر البُراق شامخًا في قلب مدينة كريتر بعدن، شاهدًا على عصور متعددة مرّت على المدينة، ومجسّدًا لتاريخٍ زاخر بالمجد والتحولات. يُعرف القصر بعدة مسميات، أشهرها قصر السلطان، نسبةً إلى السلطان فضل بن علي العبدلي الذي أمر ببنائه بين عامي 1912م و1918م. وقد نُقش على جدرانه ختم السلطنة العبدلية، تأكيدًا لانتمائه العريق.
لاحقًا، تغيّرت استخداماته ومسمياته، فخلال فترة الاحتلال البريطاني استُخدم كثكنة عسكرية، ليُعرف حينها باسم قصر البُراق. ومع قيام ثورة 14 أكتوبر في الجنوب، أُطلق عليه اسم “قصر 14 أكتوبر” تخليدًا لهذه الذكرى الوطنية.
اليوم، يُعد القصر مقرًا لـالمتحف الوطني، حيث تُعرض فيه مجموعة من القطع الأثرية النادرة التي تروي فصولًا من تاريخ الجنوب العربي، مما يجعله واحدًا من أبرز المعالم الثقافية والمتحفية في المنطقة.
