المنارة التاريخية في عدن تعد من أبرز المعالم الأثرية القديمة، وقد اختلفت الآراء حول أصل بنائها؛ فبعض الباحثين يرى أن تاريخها يعود إلى ما قبل الإسلام، بينما يقدّر آخرون عمرها بحوالي 600 عام.،غير أن المؤرخين اليمنيين يُجمعون على أن المنارة ما هي إلا بقايا لجامع كبير بُني في العصر الأموي، ويُقال إنه من الآثار المعمارية التي أمر ببنائها الخليفة العادل عمر بن عبد العزيز، ما يجعلها واحدة من أبنية القرن الثاني الهجري.
وقد أشارت بعض المصادر إلى أن اسم الجامع الذي كانت المنارة جزءًا منه هو “جامع عدن”، ويُرجح أن بناءه تم ضمن نهضة عمرانية شهدتها المدينة خلال الحقبة الأموية.

Aden Lighthouse: A Silent Witness to an Ancient History
The historic lighthouse in Aden is considered one of the most prominent ancient archaeological landmarks. Opinions differ regarding its origins; some researchers believe its history dates back to the pre-Islamic era, while others estimate its age to be around 600 years. However, Yemeni historians agree that the lighthouse is merely the remains of a grand mosque built during the Umayyad period. It is said to be one of the architectural structures commissioned by the just Caliph Umar ibn Abdul Aziz, placing it among the buildings of the second century AH (8th century CE).
Some sources indicate that the mosque, of which the lighthouse was a part, was known as “Jami’ Aden” (Aden Mosque), and it is likely that its construction took place during an urban renaissance experienced by the city in the Umayyad era.
